KEEP SMILING: A Tribute To An Uncle We Never Knew. Eion Field writes a detailed account of his father’s family history, begining in Hawke’s Bay during World War One. He traces their lives – fortunes and misfortunes – and focuses on his dad’s brother who was lost after the Japanese invasion of Java in 1942. Eion, born after World War Two, was given the name his uncle had. Curious about the fate of his namesake, he nally decided to follow up lines of enquiry already investigated by his father Roland. Here he sets out all the information he could unearth, packed with little events and detail. And from it all there emerges a true hero.
