David Lockyer

DAVID LOCKYER was born in 1948, Poole, England, and is a post-war migrant to New Zealand since 1950. His formative years were on a forty acre dairy farm near Waimate that offered responsibilities and adventure. River fossicking and climbing Mt Studholme offered real adventure for growing boys. Milking cows, scouting, fruit picking and boating were valued pursuits. Schooling was at Hunter Primary and Waimate District High. A Carpentry apprenticeship preceded a building business at Hokitika, Westland. Eventually a move to Christchurch resulted in eight years of property maintenance at a busy primary school. A complete change in direction led to full time study at the Bible College of NZ (Laidlaw in 2008). A passion for writing emerged, while Christchurch hosted a creative writer’s expo. Beyond the Splendours of the Sunset (2014) is the fruit of much study and hard work. David is married to Janet, a retired nurse. Leisure pursuits include camping, travel, tramping, gardening, family, friends, and Bridge.
